1. Porong River Dredging
(Radar Surabaya, Surya, Seputar Indonesia)

Radar Surabaya :
Mud sediment at Porong river that coming from spillway started to dredge on Saturday (28/7). The sediment become thick everyday and makes the river more and more shallow, particularly for the area near to the spillway at Pejarakan, Jabon District. BPLS has to dredge the river as the sediment getting more wide especially during the hot season.

BPLS officer put one unit of afloat excavator at Porong river. However the effort was not optimized yet as the mud sedimentation can not flown away due to the small debit of water. Achmad Zulkarnaen, BPLS  Public Relation said this is the only effort to reduce the mud sedimentation at Porong river, particularly in the area below the spillway drainage pipes. The effort will continue till the rainy season come. The small debit of Porong river caused by the usage of the water for irrigation and drinking water processed by PDAM. Thus the water can not be used to spray the mud. Up to now, the officers face difficulties to banish the mud to Porong river as the mud volume goes to spillway relatively small and not much mud can be banished to Porong river. For few days, the mud scolding getting more concentrated as the water content lesser. This condition makes difficulties to direction the mud to the south as usual.  2 units Toyo pump placed at intake pond control can not be maximized as the water supplied from Porong river to dilute the mud can not be maximized too due to the small debit of water.
Achmad Zulkarnaen explained the situation push BPLS to work more hard to keep the mud directed to the south side of scolding to the spillway. If it can’t the mud will precipitate and problems will be more.
