Sidoarjo, E Java (ANTARA News) - Coinciding with the visit of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Sidoardjo on Tuesday, PT Minarak Lapindo Jaya again paid compensation worth Rp2.9 billion to several victims of mudflow disaster. Lapindo agreed to pay Rp2,991,768,000 or 20 percent of the total transaction values worth Rp14,958,840,000 to `buy` a total land areas measuring 29,507 m2 belonging to 11 residents of Sidoarjo.

"We stick to our earlier commitment to pay the compensation to mudflow victims," Vice President of PT Minarak Lapindo Jaya Andi Darussalam Tabusalla said here on Tuesday.

With the latest payment, 201 mudflow victims have received compensations so far. PT Minarak Lapindo Jaya have so far spent around Rp19.6 billion, or 20 percent of the total transaction values of about Rp98 billion.

Meanwhile, Head of the Sidoarjo Mudflow Mitigation Agency`s Steering Committee (BPLS) Joko Kirmanto said that the government would not pressure Lapindo Brantas Inc.`s management regarding settlement of the Porong mudflow problem.

"There should be no pressures on Lapindo," Kirmanto said after holding a meeting with Lapindo Brantas Inc. managers.

Joko Kirmanto, who is concurrently public works minister, said that the government gave a chance for Lapindo Brantas to make a presentation on various programs of actions which have been carried out by the oil and gas company so far.

He said that the visit of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Surabaya and Sidoarjo is to collect first hand information from various parties on the mudflow disaster.

"All information that he will gather, will be used as reference in decision making," he minister.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is paying a visit to Surabaya, East Java, as of Monday to get first hand information about the condition of Lapindo Brantas mud victims in Sidoarjo district.

Earlier on Sunday, the head of state received a number of mud victims at his private residence in Cikeas, Bogor.
